Château Alverne – Notes de dégustation (FR)

15,5/20 – RVF (Juin 2019)

17 Points – Farr Vintners

Deep ruby in the glass, there is an expresive nose of coffee, dark cherries, pain grillé and sweet spices. The palate is juicy, round and smooth, with silky and refined tannins framing a ripe core of black fruit. Nutmeg, smoke, and sweet vanilla add layers of complexity as the wine builds power through the mid palate, finishing with a long and spicy finish that reveals yet more forest fruits. This is an approachable wine, but the length and structure will merit cellaring over the next 5-10 years. Succulent and opulent but not at all jammy. Smooth as silk and bearing all the hallmarks of the unique Mitjavile magic. What a find is !

16.5 Points – Farr Vintners

The Alverne 2014 has a seductive, smokey nose of spice and vanilla with a hint of black truffles. On the palate it is delightfully smooth and round. The texture is velvety and soft with well-integrated and melted tannins. Lovely balance here with ripe Blueberry fruit and toasty oak. Whilst youthful, this can already be enjoyed with an hour in the decanter. A delightfull and exotic Saint Emilion that is ripe, sweet and charming, very much in the tertre Roteboeuf style. Drink 2017-2027.
